<description>"I think teaching the Bibleand the messages in it with proper historical and socio-economic background would eliminate so many of the problems with the current theocracy bent in the US and elsewhere." Fact check this quote before drawing opinions. The United States of America is NOT a theocracy. In fact, it is a Secularist state. (It is not an Atheist state like its bygone rival, the Soviet Union. Secularism is belief in God without endorsing nor condemning any particular religion.) This fact is spelled out in the 1st Amendment, even though the word "Secularist" is not used in that Amendment, nor anywhere else in the Constitution. Not every country with, unlike the USA, an official religion is a theocracy. In a theocracy, the church IS the state, rather than being a separate organization with an endorsement from the state as most official denominations of official religions are. There are currently only 2 theocracies in existence on Earth. They are Vatican City and Iran. By the way, a few Christian denominations do allow women to become ministers, just in case that changes your mind about Christianity.</description>
